Application - Lead Practitioner - External Assessment (Examinations)


The Lead Practitioner - External Assessment (Examinations) is accountable to the Exam Management Team Leader. They lead the setters and vetters to support the SACE Board in delivering a quality examination.  

Lead Practitioner responsibilities: 

  • Lead setters and vetters to write an exam from conception to approval; prepare quality documentation; and liaise with the Exam Management team to ensure setters and vetters follow training, policies, meetings, deadlines, and quality approval processes. 

  • Provide feedback to the Team Leader, Exam Management,and operate as the key primary contact for the relationship between the SACE Board and panel members. 

  • Ensure the quality of the examination, through adherence to specifications in the subject outline and SACE policy and principles. 

  • Produce, curate and share educational resources and relevant materials with the examination team.   

  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the exam performance. Determine improvements for the next examination cycle based on the analysis and share these findings with the examination development team.

  • Provide feedback on the quality of the examination to guide the future direction of the setters and vetters. 

  • Produce marking guidelines and lead the standard in the marking process. 

What are we looking for? 

Essential Capabilities 

  • Experience in teaching the current subject outline. 

  • Demonstrated experience in quality assessment, and deep knowledge of the subject discipline. 

  • Demonstrated understanding of effective examination principles and their structure. 

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to engage and mentor examination teams in their skill and performance. 

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the SACE curriculum, subject-specific content, and assessment requirements. 

  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex concepts within the nominated subject area. 

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines. 

  • Engagement with the SACE Board’s strategic direction. 

Lead practioners are required to comply with policies and procedures that govern SACE Board quality assurance, participate in specified PLATO training (non-participation in required training precludes involvement), abide by SACE Board’s Code of Conduct, including the identification of potential conflicts of interest, and complete work within deadlines. 
 

Appointment is initially for a 12-month period, with opportunities for extension.
